On June 17 of this year, the Consulate General of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Seattle hosted a large-scale cultural and community event for a joint viewing of the Uzbekistan national football team’s historic FIFA World Cup match.
The event brought together nearly 150 Uzbek compatriots residing in the State of Washington, as well as representatives of local government and the business community.
Leaders of diaspora and community organizations representing Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, and Türkiye also attended the gathering. They extended their congratulations and best wishes in recognition of the historic achievement of Uzbekistan’s national football team.
Their participation served as a meaningful demonstration of regional solidarity, friendship among peoples, mutual respect, and close neighborly relations.
At the opening of the event, it was emphasized that uniting Uzbek citizens living abroad, protecting their legitimate rights and interests, and maintaining regular dialogue with them are among the Consulate General’s key priorities.
It was also noted that the gathering was not only an opportunity to watch a football match together but also an important platform for bringing compatriots abroad closer together around a shared purpose and common homeland.
Held in a spirit of support for the Uzbekistan national team, the event contributed to strengthening solidarity among compatriots, promoting national pride, and expanding friendly ties among representatives of different communities.
