The Uzbekistan delegation concluded a productive visit to Seattle marked by substantive meetings, constructive negotiations, and important exchanges.
During the visit, the delegation held productive discussions with Washington Secretary of State Steve Hobbs, Seattle Deputy Mayor Brian Surratt, the leadership of the University of Washington’s Center for European, Russian and Eurasian Studies (CEREAS), and representatives of the academic community.
The delegation also discussed promising areas of cooperation with Greater Seattle Partners, government officials, business leaders, and representatives of the region’s economic development community.
The meetings focused on strengthening ties between Uzbekistan and the U.S. Pacific Northwest and expanding trade and investment cooperation. Innovation, advanced technology, aerospace, advanced manufacturing, agriculture, education, and culture were identified as key areas for future partnership.
Expanding academic cooperation and expert dialogue was another important component of the visit. The parties exchanged views on Central Asia’s growing role and significance in contemporary international relations. At the University of Washington, the delegation learned about programs focused on Central Asian studies and initiatives supporting the teaching of the Uzbek language.
The visit also highlighted the role of the recently established Consulate General of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the State of Washington. It was emphasized that the diplomatic mission will contribute to deepening practical cooperation between Uzbekistan and the U.S. Pacific Northwest, expanding business and institutional ties, and bringing the peoples of the two countries closer together.
The visit opened new opportunities for the Uzbekistan–United States strategic partnership and marked an important step toward strengthening regional and people-to-people ties.
