Akhror Burkhanov
Consul General of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Washington State
Akhror Burkhanov was appointed in March 2026 as the first Consul General of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Washington State.
Prior to assuming his current position, Mr. Burkhanov served as Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Press Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan. In this capacity, he acted as the Ministry’s official spokesperson and coordinated public communications, media relations, and engagement with domestic and international press.
Earlier in his diplomatic career, Mr. Burkhanov served at the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Washington, D.C., where his portfolio included public diplomacy, media relations, tourism, education, healthcare, and other areas of bilateral cooperation. He also oversaw Uzbekistan’s bilateral relations with Brazil.
A career diplomat, Mr. Burkhanov has held various positions within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including roles in the Department for Cooperation with the United Nations and Other International Organizations and the Consolidated Information and Analytical Department. He also served at the Information and Analytical Center for International Relations.
Beyond his diplomatic service, Mr. Burkhanov worked as Deputy Director of the Department responsible for integrating innovative solutions into public administration at Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Innovative Development. He also taught economic development at Westminster International University in Tashkent.
Mr. Burkhanov holds an undergraduate degree in economics from Westminster International University in Tashkent and a graduate degree in development policy from the KDI School of Public Policy and Management in the Republic of Korea.
He is the proud father of three sons.
